Some Introductions

Hi, my name is Dena, and I am an up-and-coming young professional with experience in the field of genetics. I have worked with and studied multiple aspects of genetics everywhere from Molecular Anthropology all the way to Cancer Cell Biology.
But why am I different?
Well, I speak real people language, or what the science community calls “layperson language”.

So here’s the deal:

I find myself with friends, at parties with strangers, or with my family members (who are a bit less educated on the topic of genetics than I would expect from physicians and scientists) and it is brought up that I research/study/work in the field of genetics. I find myself explaining things over and over to inform them that they are misinformed about so many issues. I decided to use this blog to answer their questions and become a teacher for the people who least understand it.

Please feel free to ask me questions as I think of topics to discuss based off of the conversations I am part of or witness in my time away from the science community.
